A second Ashby pub was forced to close its doors over new year.

Last week, the Bowling Green said it would be shut until last Tuesday as most of its staff were could not work due to illness.

Then, The Lamb Inn in Market Street was closed until last Thursday due to a number of positive Covid tests on New Year's Day.

The pub's manager Alex Stanley announced the temporary closure on social media last Sunday.

She said: "Unfortunately, yesterday we had to take the decision to close the The Lamb Inn due to myself, my daughter and 95 per cent of staff getting a positive Covid result.

"I have one of my amazing team that's still downstairs deep cleaning nearly eight hours in.

"Our is aim is to be open by Thursday as half of the team will be able to work from then.

"Take care and we will see you all at the end of the week."
