A fire at a property reported to be empty caused road closures in the Moira area this afternoon (Friday).
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue crews were called to Ashby Road to tackle the blaze at a house which, initial reports suggested, was not occupied.
Police issued a warning of road closures shortly after 4pm.
They posted on social media and said: "Traffic Update - 16:14 - Road closure – Blackfordby Lane Junction with Norris Hill and Dorset Drive and Ashby Road Junction. Please avoid this area."
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police then told Ashby Nub News: "We received a report of a house fire, and road closures are in place while it's managed. East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire & Rescue are in attendance as well."
However, a spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire & Rescue confirmed that there had been no casualties as the property was empty.
Leicestershire Fire & Rescue said: "The property is in Ashby Road, opposite Blackfordby Lane.
"It is a disused building and we mobilised two appliances.
"There was smoke issuing from the property and the crews requested further appliances.
"They have done a thorough search of the building, a detached property of two floors.
"The ground floor was alight, access was gained and two hose reel jets were in use to fight the fire.
"Access was gained to the first floor using an extension ladder, breathing apparatus in use.
"They confirmed it was 'not persons reported' - a thorough search has taken place.
"It's a disused, empty property."
