A crowd gathered in the car park of the new Lidl on Resolution Road this morning, eagerly anticipating the stores grand opening.
The opening was started with a performance from Ashby Hill Top Primary School, who sang some Christmas songs outside the main entrance.

After that, the children joined the District Manager and Store Manager by the door, where a ribbon was pulled in front of the door and a large pair of scissors was given to one school girl to cut the ribbon, officially opening the store.
Despite a slight mishap with the ceremonial scissors struggling to cut through the ribbon, the store was officially opened.

A cheque of £500 was presented to Ashby Hilltop Primary School before customers were allowed to enter the store.
Inside, the first thing customers come across when they enter the store is the bakery, filled with fresh bread, donuts, pastries, sweet treats and baguettes.
From there, shelves are stocked with fresh produce and food, as well as bargain kitchen appliances, televisions, hoovers and electrical goods.
They also had a selection of Christmas foods, drinks and gifts on offer.
The store has cashier operated tills as well as self-service.
Local people have raised concerns since the store was announced it would worsen congestion at the top of Ashby, with Lidl opened next to Tesco Extra and just across the road from Aldi and M&S Food.
The retailer has said the new location on Resolution Road was the only 'viable' option for the store to go.
