Reform UK has formed a North West Leicestershire branch - which held its pilot meeting this week.

The group has attracted a number of former local Conservative councillors, including Elliott Allman, the branch's vice-chairman and Virge Richici, as well as Independent District Councillor Tony Saffell.

Branch chairman Joseph Boam said: "This marks the beginning of a transformative journey for North West Leicestershire.

"Our branch is ready to deliver real, impactful change that reflects the values of our community.

"Reform UK stands for common sense policies, accountability, and tackling the issues other parties have neglected for too long."

The first meeting allowed for the formal setup of the branch, and a statement to accompany the launch says: "Reform NWL welcomes anyone considering switching from the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, or even independents to join this exciting wave of new politics. Together, we can make a real difference."

Deputy Chairman Elliott Allman also extended an open invitation.

He said: "Councillors from the County Council, District Council, and Parish Council are most welcome to join and get involved.

"We also encourage anyone, of any age or background, to come and join the fight.

"It's time to challenge those who've clung to power for far too long. Together, as a united front, we can reform the country, starting right here in NWL."
