Police have issued more details of illegal and unsavoury activity at Staunton Harold Reservoir.

The day after officers were forced to break up a gathering of under-age drinkers at the beauty spot near Ashby, it has been reported there were cases of people defecating on nearby farmland, spreading the waste on footpaths and pop up 'speakeasys' in woodland.

Melbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team have details of what happened 24 hours after the original disturbance.

Their post reads: "Saturday witnessed the re-introduction of vigorous patrols at Staunton Harold Reservoir, following further reports of anti-social behaviour.

"Officers were disturbed to receive intelligence that youths have been defecating in farmers' fields, discarding human waste on public footpaths and setting up pop-up after-dark speakeasy operations in woodland at the reservoir.

"Police spotted two women relaxing in the grounds of the closed-to-the-public reservoir and approached them.

"An eagle-eyed officer observed that the vehicle they were attempting to leave the parkland in was uninsured.

"Moments later the car was seized, loaded on to a recovery vehicle, and one of the women was reported for having no insurance."
