Police have issued a warning about an increase in thefts from cars in Ashby, with crime numbers continuing to increase month on month.

The Beat Team from North West Leicestershire Police have reported noticing an increase in thefts from unattended motor vehicles since June.

According to Beat Team NN46, 'We're only 10 days into August and we're already at the same amount for this month as the proceeding two.

'Please can we remind people to lock their car doors and remove items from view.

'Locking your vehicle, even when parked on your drive or on the road outside your house, greatly reduces the possibility of it being targeted by an opportunist thief.

'Even if you have locked your vehicle, check you have left any windows or the sun roof open.'
