North West Leicestershire' Forest Beat Team says their 'motives have been questioned' after arranging a residents' meeting to deal with HGV problems in Albert Village.

A social media post today (Thursday) says the meeting will be held at Coalville Police station.

However, it adds that the arrangement has 'sadly' been 'publicly' questioned and other venues are now being considered.

The post reads: "On the Forest Beat we have recently become aware of a Facebook post around the HGV problems at Albert Village.

"We received a request for a residents meeting and arranged for this to be held on Sunday, April 6 at Coalville Police Station.

"Sadly, this has led to our motives being publicly questioned.

"The Forest Beat Team work hard to engage with our community and will always look to facilitate requests like this where possible.

"In this case it had involved officers changing shifts to accommodate the request and finding a suitable venue (we have to be mindful of having a professional environment to host in).

"We are still looking at other options of where this could be held but are reliant on other venues having availability to host us.

"The Forest Beat Team has already completed joint operations with other agencies, completed our own local operations and been in contact with the Highways Department at the County Council to address the weight limit issue. The matter is also about to become one of our new priorities which we set every quarter.

"With the current pressures on local policing, we work hard to balance our priorities and spend proportionate amounts of time in all areas of the Forest Beat.

"The officers on the team have served North West Leicestershire for many years and are proud to be in your community.'
