Derbyshire Police were called to a baaa-rmy type of rescue early this morning (Thurs) after 30 sheep were spotted running down the A511 Boundary near Ashby.

A member of the public alerted police to the flock on the road around 4am.

Officers from the Swadlincote Response Unit were tasked with rounding up the animals - which had escaped through a gap in the fence from Charnwood Forest Alpacas.

The runaway sheep were taken back to their farm, where the owners were given advice to make sure the wantaway woolybacks didn't repeat their great escape.
