Police reveal the reason why armed officers raided an address in Moira on Friday night

Armed police raided an address in Moira last night (Friday) in the hunt for a man wanted on suspicion of theft.

A number of officers and police vehicles raced to a property in Cherry Tree Court, off Ashfield Drive.

But the suspect was not found and police investigations are continuing.

The incident had over 270 comments on the Spotted Ashby de la Zouch Facebook page.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police told Ashby Nub News: "Police attended an address in the Ashfield Drive area of Moira yesterday evening (5 February) following a man wanted by police on suspicion of theft.

"No-one was found at the address and no arrests have been made.

"Enquiries are ongoing.

"Armed officers were in attendance to assist in the intended arrest."
