Police have revealed they recovered £60,000 worth of cannabis during a four-day operation in North West Leicestershire.

Operation Hatch covered Coalville and Ashby - and resulted in 22 warrants.

Leicestershire Police gave an update last week on the number of arrest that had been made Operation Hatch further arrests made

And they released a video of officers breaking down the door of a property in Coalville which was featured on our sister site Coalville Nub NewsPolice raid Coalville address as part of Operation Hatch

But the latest edition of Inspector Rich Jackson's newsletter illustrates the full extent of the operation.

And it says that one cannabis factory was discovered and £60,000 worth of cannabis recovered.

The newsletter also says that numerous closure order applications are being progressed and there had been excellent community and partner feedback.

Inspector Jackson, the NPA Commander for North West Leicestershire, said: "Officers from across force have worked together on this operation in order to gather information, obtain warrants and then carry out this enforcement activity. Investigations following these arrests will remain ongoing.

"This has involved a lot of commitment and dedication from all involved and my thanks go to them as well as to members of the community for working with us while the enforcement has been carried out.

"Anyone who has any information in relation to crime in their area should report it to us immediately. We will listen to you and we will take action."

Inspector Jackson also says in the newsletter that the current Coronavirus lockdown is like nothing he has ever experienced before.

He wrote: "These are unusual and unprecedented times, there's no other way to put it.

"Certainly in my policing career, and I think I'm safe in speaking for the rest of my colleagues in the force, I've not experienced anything like this before.

"We've had some reports of people gathering or not adhering to the Government guidance, but our approach is the same across the force.

"Where possible, officers are out engaging with people, explaining why it's important to follow the guidance and encouraging them to do so.

"We've reminded them why it's important not to gather in large groups - to stop the virus spreading - and they've been compliant."
