A home in Moira was raided by police yesterday (Thursday) and two stolen motorcycles were recovered at the property.
Officers from Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood threatened to break down the front door of the house in Norris Hill until the occupant agreed to let them in.
Police say a suspect has been identified and that the bikes are back with their rightful owners.
A post on the Swadlincote SNT social media page explained what happened.
It reads: "The team were out at the break of dawn looking for wanted persons and tackling criminality.
"PCs Stafford, Holmes-Small, Williams and Holmes were on the case, taking the big red key should it be needed.
"Whilst attending an address, the occupant didn't believe the big red key would be used and wouldn't let officers inside.
"When she heard PC Stafford was kitting up however, she changed her mind and allowed a search, saving her the cost of a new door.
"It became clear why she may have been reluctant to let officers in the address; eagle eyed PC's Stafford and Williams spotted not one, but TWO stolen bikes!
"Enquiries are ongoing, with a suspect already having been identified, and the bikes will be returned to their rightful owners."
Leicestershire Police also released a statement following the search.
A force spokesperson said: "Officers were called at 10.18am yesterday (Thursday) to Norris Hill, Moira, following a report of two motorcycles which had been found which were believed to be stolen.
"The motorcycles have been recovered. Enquiries are ongoing."
