North West Leicestershire Police had to move a number of vehicles from a roadside in Measham after they had been bought from British Car Auctions.

A tweet by Ashby & Forest Police on Wednesday explained that four cars were untaxed and blocking a footpath on Tamworth Road causing a hazard to pedestrians.

Police acted after a complaint by a member of the public.

Photos then showed the vehicles being loaded on to trucks.

The tweet reads: "These vehicles had to be removed from a pavement in Measham for Obstruction of the Highway.

"All had been purchased from BCA Measham and left untaxed blocking the public footpath.

"This section of road is a 50 mph limit with a footpath on one side."

North West Leicestershire Police made a comment on their Facebook page which reads: "Following a complaint received from a member of the public, four vehicles were removed from the pavement on Tamworth Road, Measham for Obstruction of the Highway.

"All had been purchased from BCA Measham then left untaxed on the Highway completely blocking the public footpath.

"This section of road is a 50 mph limit with a footpath on one side only, clearly the vehicles caused a hazard to pedestrians."
