Police launch hunt for man after child is bitten by dog in Blackfordby incident

Leicestershire Police are looking for the owner of a dog which bit a child in Blackfordby.

The incident happened on Monday evening and police want to speak to a man who was walking the dog at the time - and is said to be in his 50s or 60s.

Police are looking for witnesses who saw the child or the man in the Heath Lane area.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "The Forest Beat team are appealing for witnesses to help identify the owner of a dog which bit a child in Blackfordby on April 14.

"The incident occurred around 1700-1730hrs in the Heath Lane area of the village.

"The dog involved is described as a beagle-type breed and of white/brown and black colouring.

"The person walking the dog is described as a white male, around 5'9" tall, aged late 50s to early 60s of average build with greying hair.

"He was possibly wearing blue colour jeans and a red top.

"If you know who this individual could be, please contact Leicestershire Police quoting crime reference number 25000219514."
