Police had to deal with 13 youngsters in seven vehicles trying to use the car park at Breedon Church on Saturday.

It is an issue that the North West Leicestershire Valley Beat Police Team are taking seriously along with the local council authorities.

There was also concern that the occupants of the vehicles spoken to at the weekend were not from the immediate Breedon area - but from places such as Derby and Long Eaton.

Breedon on the Hill Parish Council published details of the latest police activity at the church on their website Breedon Parish Council.

Last month, the police reported that there had been damage caused to the church in what was described as a 'Heritage Crime' - and said at the time that they would consider stepping up patrols Vandals cause damage at Breedon Church

The Council said: "Yesterday (Saturday) members of the Valley Beat Police Team had been busy whilst on high visibility patrols at Breedon Church.

"Since late afternoon seven vehicles and their 13 occupants who were either in the car park, or about to enter, where dealt with accordingly.

"The young people where not locals, being from Long Eaton, Derby and Spondon.

"The Parish Council, Police and North West Leicestershire District Council are taking this issue seriously and urge residents to call any incidents into the police directly on 101."

The council also said the police operation at Breedon Church would be continuing over the next few weeks.
