Police Appeal After Shop Worker Is Punched In The Face

By Graham Hill 4th Feb 2020

Derbyshire Police have released an image of two men wanted in connection with an assault on a shop worker in Overseal.

The Co-op employee was punched in the face while trying to prevent a theft from the store last month.

Police have issued an appeal and a statement read: "One of our officers in South Derbyshire has released an image of two men he would like to speak to after a shop worker in Overseal was assaulted whilst preventing a theft.

"The incident happened at around 9.15pm on Sunday, January 26, at the Co-op store on Burton Road, when a shop worker at the store tried to prevent a man leaving the store with a basket full of goods that he hadn't paid for.

"When he approached the man he was punched in the face.

"Do you recognise the men?

"If so please make contact with PC James Williams at Swadlincote Police Station, using any of the following non-emergency contact methods and quoting reference number 2*49637."
