A Christmas lunch for people who will be alone over the festive season is being planned at the St Helen's Church Heritage Centre.

The organisers of Christmas in Company have released details to gauge how much interest there would be for such an event in Ashby.

It is being organised for people who live in or around Ashby and will be alone for Christmas Day, but would prefer to be in the company of others, for a traditional meal - likely to be between 12 noon and 3pm.

Organisers have emphasised that it would be for young and old people alike, no matter what the circumstances - just people who find themselves on their own.

To register an interest please click this link HERE.

This can be completed on behalf of someone else, if internet access is not possible.

The form is to see how much interest there is, and any arrangements will be confirmed as soon as it is clear there is a need.

There may be a suggested donation for the meal, but if so, this will not be obligatory - with organisers saying finances should not be a barrier to getting involved.

If it happens, volunteers will be needed to form a small team to help plan and run the event on Christmas Day.

Also, potential funding and/or food donations would be required to avoid any financial barrier deterring people from attending.
