Piers Morgan has offered Ashby MP Andrew Bridgen who said the Good Morning Britain presenter would be fired by Christmas.

The pair were involved in a heated exchange of words on Monday when Mr Bridgen, the Conservative MP for North West Leicesterhire, was interviewed by Morgan and Susanna Reid.

The pair accused him of going against what Prime Minister Boris Johnson had said about the easing of the Coronavirus lockdown during his address to the nation on Sunday evening.

Mr Bridgen then appeared on Talk Radio and suggested Morgan would be sacked sooner rather than later.

He said: "I'll have a little bet he won't be fronting that programme by Christmas."

But Morgan came back the MP and announced his own five figure bet against that forecast.

The GMB presenter said: "As for the bet, I think I'll still be here until Christmas, I'm contracted until the end of next year so I think it's quite likely.

"So why don't we have a bet for charity, £10,000 put your money where your mouth is.

"We can put it to a charity of your choice or mine whoever pays up so if you're prepared to match your billy big b***s talk on TalkRadio with hard cash then I'm here. If not - pipe down."

The two fell out when Mr Bridgen, speaking via a video link, accused the controversial presenter of a 'diatribe' against the Prime Minister.

Morgan responded angrily by saying his diatribe "Is because so many people have died and so many people are continuing to die".

Morgan then accused the MP of not knowing what Boris Johnson's guidelines were.

He said: "You, as a leading, high-profile Conservative politician, haven't got a clue about what these rules actually mean."

Morgan's argument with the MP has led to 281 Ofcom complaints made against him according to Entertainment Daily
