Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service staged an operation to rescue a horse from the Ashby Canal last weekend.

Crews attended when the animal - called Brandy - fell into the water.

A social media post from LFRS showed photos of the rescue, which appeared to be close to Bosworth Marina.

The post reads: "We recently rescued a horse (Brandy) who'd fallen into Ashby Canal.

"We used an inflatable rescue path to help him out of the water - with the assistance of farm machinery, by which time poor Brandy was exhausted.

"He eventually got back onto his hooves and was helped home to his nearby stable.

"He's now safe and well.

"If you find an animal in distress, contact the appropriate animal/rescue organisation."

Crews from Bosworth and Hinckley attended the rescue along with a water rescue team.
