Parking charges return to council run car parks in Ashby on Wednesday.

They were suspended when lockdown was introduced three months ago.

But North West Leicestershire District Council said the charges would return on July 1.

However, the local authority also says payments will be by contactless card only to reduce hand contact and help control the spread of Coronavirus.

Council car parks will remain free beyond July 1 for NHS staff members, health and social care workers and NHS Volunteer Responders when on official duty.

Eligible staff can get a free Government parking pass from their employer, NHS Trust or the Royal Voluntary Service.
