A scheme to build three log cabins to be used as holiday accommodation has been withdrawn.

The buildings were planned for Whitegate Stables, based at Coleorton Lane in Packington.

But, after planning application was sought last September, a number of objections were raised.

Among the issues raised was the the siting of the planned development was not in Packington and could encourage more development towards the Leicester Road.

That, in turn, could lead to Packington losing its village status.

Others felt that the site should be kept as agricultural land, while others were concerned about the excess traffic on a country lane.

Another comment read: "The areas of agricultural land between Packington and Ashby must be retained or we will be in danger of losing our village identity and become part of the town of Ashby."

In all, 13 letters of objection were sent to North West Leicestershire District Council and the application was withdrawn last Tuesday.
