North West Leicestershire District Council confirms its New Year bin collection changes
North West Leicestershire District Council has confirmed when new year recycling and waste collections will be suspended.
As usual, the January 1 celebrations will mean a lot more rubbish to be thrown out, coupled with confusing changes to bin collection days.
Your rubbish might not be collected on the day you usually expect it to be.
Anyone who does not drag their wheelie bin out on the right days runs the risk of it being left overflowing.
And in each area of the county, the rules are different.
The district council says said there will be no recycling and waste collections on the following dates in the Ashby and Coalville areas.
- Tuesday, December 31
- Wednesday, January 1
Also, there will be no garden waste collections until Monday, January 13.
The authority is also advising people to check their collection information 'carefully' as there are also 'changes to which bins and containers can be put out over the festive period'.
Residents can check how this impacts them on the My North West Leicestershire website.
If you are in the Hinckley and Bosworth area, there will be no collection of waste on the New Year bank holiday.
Instead, Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council has said alternate collections have been arranged as follows:
- Refuse due on Wednesday, January 1, will be collected on Thursday, January 2,
- Recycling (blue-lid) due on Wednesday, January 1, will be collected on Tuesday, December 31
For residents living in rural west areas of the borough who usually have garden and refuse bins collected on the same day, collection arrangements are as follows:
- Recycling (blue-lid) due on Wednesday, January 1, will be collected on Tuesday, December 31
All other refuse and recycling collections will continue on their usual days during the New Year period, the council said.
