North West Leicestershire Covid figures remain high compared to rest of the county

North West Leicestershire still has the highest coronavirus seven-day infection rate in the county outside of Leicestershire - and recorded the most new cases over the past 24 hours.

But the region's seven day figure has slipped back below 200 again.

Last week, Leicestershire Heath bosses warned residents to be aware as the district's Covid figures were the 11th highest in the country.

But fewer than 200 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in across Leicester and Leicestershire in the last 24 hours, which is the smallest increase in a single day so far in 2021.

There were 66 infections identified in Leicester and a further 104 spread across Leicestershire.

In the district council areas, North West Leicestershire has recorded the most new cases at 33.

Charnwood was second on the list with 19 new infections, Blaby's total went up by 13, there were 15 new cases in Hinckley and Bosworth and 11 in Oadby and Wigston.

In Harborough, there was 10 positive results, and Melton added just three to its overall case toll.

The new cases, updated today (Monday) at 4pm, mean that the total number of cases across the city and county since the start of the pandemic area by area are :

  • Leicester: 33,997
  • Blaby: 6,594
  • Charnwood: 11,632
  • Harborough: 4,818
  • Hinckley and Bosworth: 5,684
  • Melton: 2,442
  • North West Leicestershire: 5,578
  • Oadby and Wigston: 4,724

The latest seven-day infection rates, area by area, are:

  • Leicester: 229.5 cases per 100,000 (813 cases in the past seven days)
  • Blaby: 149.7 cases per 100,000 (152)
  • Charnwood: 160.9 cases per 100,000 (299)
  • Harborough: 107.7 cases per 100,000 (101)
  • Hinckley and Bosworth: 135.2 cases per 100,000 (153)
  • Melton: 85.9 cases per 100,000 (44)
  • North West Leicestershire: 199.8 cases per 100,000 (207)
  • Oadby and Wigston: 175.4 cases per 100,000 (100)
  • England: 102.9 cases per 100,000 (57,933)
