New Money Hill car park will be long-stay - to encourage usage by Ashby shop and business workers

The new Money Hill car park in Ashby is set to be long-stay - to encourage shop and business workers to use it.
But a request to offer reduced price parking appears to have been turned down by North West Leicestershire District Council.
The car park next to the new housing development off Nottingham Road, is due to open this summer.
At the last Ashby de la Zouch Town Council planning committee meeting, councillors agreed to put suggestions to the District Council.
A communication read: "The committee agreed that the long stay allocation should be 100 per cent of the car park capacity, to encourage shop and business workers in Ashby to park away from the town centre.
"The committee also proposes that the charges in the car park are reduced, to encourage usage. Funding for this could be provided from the other Ashby car parks."
A response from the District Council will be presented to this Monday's Ashby Town Council planning committee meeting.
It reads: "I'm sure you are aware there is no right solution in terms of short and long stay, as some feedback has suggested more short stay.
"While the parking tariffs and length of stay at Money Hill are not part of the consultation, we have considered your suggestions, and I can confirm that we will make Money Hill a long-stay car park and review the usage of the car park over time.
"We will monitor ticket sales for length of stay and this will enable us to review the parking usage and decide on whether a different split in terms of short and long stay might be required in the future."
But it adds: "The District Council administration is clear that it wants tariffs in all its operated car parks across the district to remain the same. Therefore, the new Money Hill car park will mirror the tariffs in the town centre."
