New Ashby steering group set up to push for ‘comprehensive master plan’ at Money Hill site
A new steering group for the Money Hill housing estates has been set up by Ashby de la Zouch Town Council.
This will be to push for a 'comprehensive master plan' from the developers.
Last month's meeting of the council's planning and transportation committee discussed the compostion of the group which will consists of Cllrs, Tom Stanley, David Bigby, Chris Smith, Murrae Blair-Park and Pejman Zamani.
Cllr Stanley said that the members of the group should consist of the Chair and Deputy Chair of the committee, the Leader of the Town Council, the District Councillor for Money Hill ward and the ward member from the Conservative Party.
The same meeting also considered comments from Ashby Civic Society which described plans for the Money Hill development as 'unclear and indefinite'.
The Society's Chairman, Ken Ward, made the comments which were in response to the site's developers, Bloor Homes and Taylor Wimpey, who held a public consultation in July.
But he said there are more questions than answers - as the plans 'do not give full details of their intentions'.
He says it is 'difficult to respond' to the plan in its current form.
Cllr Blair-Park told the committee last month: "I know we've heard that we've got, is what we've got.
"But I still think we can't accept it as it's not very comprehensive.
"I'll do some work to get an example of what the masterplan should look like, so that we can submit that to the District Council."
The group will also strive to make sure that the Section 106 money - funding provided by the developers towards to the benefit of town projects or requirements - is agreed.
Cllr Stanley added: "The group will look at the 106 money to make sure we get that."
The first phase of building work is already under way at the site off Nottingham Road.
