National newspaper website predicts who will win the North West Leicestershire General Election seat
A national newspaper website has given an indication of the result of the General Election in the North West Leicestershire constituency.
With voters going to the polls on July 4, the early signs are that Labour will take back the seat for the first time since the 2005 election.
The Financial Times website has made it possible to see the current state of the UK's constituency based on current polling of local residents in towns such as Ashby de la Zouch and Coalville.
As we stand, the website says Labour's Amanda Hack will win with a 37.4 per cent share of the vote - almost 12 per cent up on the last election in 2019 when Andrew Bridgen regained his seat for the Conservative Party.
But the result is expected to be close and the Conservative candidate, Craig Smith, is currently forecast to take 29.8 per cent, which is over 32 per cent down on five years ago.
Coming in third is Reform and their candidate Noel Williams, with a predicted 14.5 per cent share.
The Liberal Democrats, with their candidate still to be confirmed, are forecast to get an eight per cent share, up more than one per cent on 2019.
Carl Benfield, the Green Party representative, is expected to poll around just under eight per cent of the vote, but that is a 3.3 per cent increase on five years ago.
But the poll is likely to change over the next few weeks - and will show who is winning over voters locally.
