Ashby boxer Zoe Newton made local history as she won the IBA English featherweight title last weekend.

Motiv8 Fitness Studio held its boxing show at the Ashby Leisure Centre last Saturday.

The main event featured two English title bouts - one of which, for the first time ever in the Midlands, was the female clash featuring Motiv8's junior coaching lead Zoe, who won the IBA title.

Zoe, 27, began training with Motiv8studio in 2020, shortly after becoming part of the coaching team.

Her teaching background helped her quickly become lead coach, successfully training many juniors to a competitive level.

Learning her craft, with a committed training regime, Zoe won her first area title in September last year.

Fast forward to now, and Zoe has collected another three area titles along the way before headlining the Legacy Event & Promotions Christmas Boxing show in Ashby.

It meant she became the first female to do so in the Midlands.

A highly competitive bout between Zoe and Dee Francois for the IBA title ended with the Ashby boxer being crowned as the unanimous winner.
