Organisers of the weekend's Timber Festival in Moira say the event is chance for people to get back to nature - in the perfect setting of the National Forest.

The three-day festival returns for its fifth anniversary at Feanedock near Ashby.

And it once again offers a unique mix of music, spoken word, art and craft, plus the unexpected.

Rowan Cannon, co-director of the Festival, told Ashby Nub News: "Because the festival came out of a partnership with the National Forest, and they came to us with the idea of how we could tell their story.

"The story is told in a transformational setting in an inspirational setting.

"Now, the festival feels very rooted in this place.

"There are local community groups and artists taking part, and it feels very much of the National Forest.

"So much of the programming is based on nature consecutiveness and how we can care for our planet.

"The way audiences describe it at the end is that they had a really restorative time, whether for the day or the weekend, it's not like one of those festivals where you need three days to recover!

"There's lots of well-being and mindfulness, laughing yoga and gong baths - plus there's a lot of thought-provoking talks with the likes of Rayner Wynn, Clover Hogan and Simon Armitage.

"People come away hopeful for the future, which is what we're hoping for."

Rowan says there is a real balance between music, poetry and art at Timber.

She added: "It's a combined art festival where there is something for everyone.

"There's also circus, with a big top, and street theatre. We have music with The Go!Team and The Destroyers.

"Plus, there are art installations as well."

Rowan says there will be local people getting involved.

She added: "There's a huge amount of local involvement. We have the Roots Community Singers plus Youth Landscapers.

"But there's also a Foresters' Market which is delivered by local organisations."

You can buy tickets for the weekend or one day, and it runs from Friday to Sunday.
