A well-known Measham butchers - with shops in Ashby de la Zouch and Appleby - is to close in April.

W Taylor Butchers announced its decision on social media and says there is not the man power available to run all three shops.

But the message adds that its Ashby and Appleby butchers will not be affected.

Shop owner Tim Bates says he is retiring and posted: "To all our valued friends and customers.

"It is with a heavy heart that I wish to advise you that I have decided to hang up my apron and retire after 25 great years at Measham.

"It is now time for Carol and I to spend some quality time with each other and our family.

"We explored all possible options to allow us to keep our Measham shop open and continue to serve our community, but, unfortunately we do not have the man power available to run all three shops.

"W Taylor Measham will close its doors for the last time on 8th April.

"Our Ashby and Appleby shops will remain open as normal where you will receive the same quality service and meat.

"Thank you for all your custom and friendships over the years gone by and I look forward to continuing to serve you at Measham for the remaining months."
