Ashby woman is set to brave the shave for a second time in aid of cancer charity

A charitable Ashby woman is set to shave her long curly locks off for a second time - to make wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer or other illnesses.
After marking World Cancer Day on February 4, Emma Hounsome, aged 32, an income officer at a Burton-based social housing association, will brave the razor on March 28 in aid of The Little Princess Trust
The charity provides free wigs to children and young people - with each one costing around £700 to make, fit, and style - and donations fund the costs. It also supports vital research into childhood cancer.
Emma said: "Many of us have been touched by cancer in some way, and sadly, it's affecting several people close to me right now.
"Cancer can have a devastating effect on people's lives, and I want to do something to support these people and their families while raising money for charity."

Emma also thanked Lou and Jess at The Short Cut barber in Ashby for their sponsorship - and offering to shave her head for free in support of the cause.
It is not the first time Emma has been at the mercy of the razor, having shaved her hair off in 2022 when she raised £2,185.
Emma has raised over £600 this time round, she aims to raise at least £2,000 for her second head shave and is looking for donations to aid research into the devastating diagnosis.
