An Ashby woman and her niece are cutting their hair off for charity this weekend.

This Saturday, Emma Hounsome and five-year-old Ellie are having their hair cut to donate to a charity called the Little Princess Trust.

Emma said: "They make and provide wigs to children and young people, free of charge, who are suffering with hair loss from cancer, alopecia and other illnesses.

"LPT also fund research into these illnesses.

"I'm shaving over 20 inches my hair and my niece, Ellie, aged five, is cutting over 12 inches off into a bob to donate her hair too.

"We would be grateful if you are able to support us by spreading the word - I know the cost of living is increasing, but these illnesses aren't going anywhere any time soon, so a little goes a long way!

"A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far.

"I'm blown away by your generosity and support.

"A special thank you to the wonderful people I met at the Ashby Show, your kindness towards a stranger is very touching.

"Thank you so much. Given the temperatures, I'm ready to shave it - need to invest in some decent factor 50 for my head shortly!"

You can make a donation for Emma and Ellie HERE.
