Leicestershire council leader to give update on local government re-organisation at upcoming Ashby Town Council meeting

Dan Harrison, Leader of Leicestershire County Council, is scheduled to make an appearance at the meeting of the full Ashby Town Council on Monday 26 January.
The meeting, which will be held at 6.30pm at Legion House, will be open to the public for the public participation session and to hear questions and answers to Cllr Dan Harrison.
According to the agenda published by Ashby Town Council, the meeting will start with the public participation session, where members of the public are allowed to ask questions, make representations, answer questions and give evidence in respect of the matters on the agenda for the meeting.
There will also be discussion of the Town Centre Framework with a brief presentation from Sam Hampton from Ashby BID.
Following this, Dan Harrison will then give a brief verbal presentation on the County Council's proposal for local government re-organisation. This will then be followed by a question and answer session.
The rest of the meeting will include discussion about the following subjects:
- The approval of the draft budget for 2026/7
- The increase of council tax on Band D properties from £128.04 to £132.14
- The support of pride and the annual pride event within the town
- Recognition that the town has registered as a bidder for the UK Town of Culture 2028
