Landmark 10-year plan to transform NHS delivery in North West Leicestershire

The Prime Minister has unveiled a sweeping new health reform to transform how people in North West Leicestershire access NHS services by delivering more care through Neighbourhood Health Services.
The plan hopes to create a Neighbourhood Health Service in North West Leicestershire to take pressure from overstretched hospitals and relieving busy A&E. The new Neighbourhood Health Service will include services offering diagnostics, rehab, mental health care, nursing and other services within the community, making it easier for local people to access.
These new centres will help bring together nurses, doctors, pharmacists, social care workers, and mental health professionals, backed by community health teams, volunteers and cutting edge digital tools all under one roof. They plan to keep these centres open evenings and weekends, offering an option for those needing care that do not need to go to A&E.
Speaking about the new plan, MP for North West Leicestershire Amanda Hack says: "This is a huge moment for healthcare in North West Leicestershire. Our communities have long needed a more accessible and joined up NHS, and this plan will deliver exactly that.
"With services on people's doorsteps, residents might not need to travel to Leicester, Derby or Nottingham for vital care in the future. This is about putting patients first.
"We're lucky that locally we have a fantastic set of GP practices and the GP Federation, who are all working together to provide better patient care and trial innovative ways of working. We must support them with a modern, forward-looking healthcare system which builds on their work."
