Andrew Bridgen has been urged to resign and trigger a by-election in North West Leicestershire.
Labour's Parliamentary candidate for the constituency at the next General Election, Amanda Hack, was responding to Mr Bridgen being expelled by the Conservative Party.
He was ousted two weeks ago as a result of a number of tweets questioning the Government's Covid vaccination programme.
The decision only came to light today (Wednesday) but leaves Mr Bridgen remaining as MP for North West Leicestershire - including Ashby de la Zouch - but not as a Conservative.
Cllr Hack, a Leicestershire County Councillor, says he should not cling on - with the next election still around 18 months away.
Speaking to residents in Coalville tonight (Wednesday), she said: "Mr Bridgen is far more interested in his own agenda than in the impact of the Tory cost of living crisis on residents in North West Leicestershire.
"I've been calling on him to quit for months.
"Over 300 people engaged with my online poll in January and February.
"Nine out of ten respondents wanted him out, and this was before his latest social media outburst.
"He cannot cling to office and draw an MP's salary for another 18 months. He stood as a Conservative candidate, and they've finally dumped him.
"The voters of North West Leicestershire want to dump him too.
"His reputation is destroyed. He should resign his seat immediately and trigger a by-election."
