Ashby Ivanhoe 4 Easington Sports 0

Ashby Ivanhoe continue to compete on three fronts after dispatching UCL South side Easington at the NFU Sports Ground.

After starting slowly, Ivanhoe made their mark midway through the first half as Will Mansfield was fouled in the box resulting in Sam Grouse dispatching from 12 yards.

Andy Gray's side had spent much of the half with 10 men as Ash Garner was sin-binned, however Easington were unable to make the man advantage count before falling behind almost instantly when the numbers were levelled.

Grouse had another chance to score from the spot later in the half after being fouled by goalkeeper Jack Myatt, on this occasion though Myatt atoned for the foul by turning Grouse's penalty past the post.

As has been the case for much of the season, the Ivanhoe performance improved after the break.

They doubled the lead on 47 minutes through Will Groocock, who turned home from close range after Joe Neal rose highest at the back post to provide the assist.

Easington came close on several occasions throughout the second half, but debutant goalkeeper Jay Rabone was left unchallenged for most of the game as the visitors struggled to register a shot on target.

At the other end, Ash Garner and Chris Acott both forced strong saves from Myatt, before Garner eventually found the net with 12 minutes to play.

Driving with the ball from midfield, Garner danced past two Easington defenders before rolling the ball into the far corner to score in consecutive games.

Rabone denied Easington a consolation in added time, producing a fine stop to his right. This set a swift counter attack in motion, culminating in Grouse racing though and putting the game further beyond doubt with a devastating finish.

Next week sees more cup action at the NFU as Tividale of the MPL travel to Ashby with a place in the last 32 of the FA Vase at stake.
