Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has donated 50 cloth bags - which promote the town - to the NHS.
They will be used as part of the sanitising process at the end of a health worker's day.
Ashby Mayor Graham Allman posted news of the donation on his Facebook page on Friday and explained the reasoning behind hit.
He said: "Good friends of the Mayoress & myself, Nicky (An NHS occupational therapist within the Burton & Derby Heath Trust) & Mike Briggs (local business owner of MGB Catering Equip) asked us if we could provide some of the Ashby re-branding carrier bags which the Town Council purchased to promote Ashby.
"Why you may ask? Well Nicky, along with many of her NHS colleagues have to take their uniforms home every day to sanitise.
"The cloth bags are ideal for this task and can be thrown into a washing machine with their uniforms to sanitise both.
"What a great simple idea, well done Nicky.
"As Town Mayor and Chairman of Ashby de la Zouch Town Council, I checked with our Town Clerk Jack Fargher if this was okay and offered to pay for them.
"Jack confirmed that it was okay to proceed so 50 bags were gifted by Ashby de la Zouch Town Council to Nicky and her colleagues to assist in these testing times.
"The operation has proved a great success to ease the workload of our wonderful NHS staff. Every little helps."
