This weekend marked the return of the annual Ashby Rotary Santa Fun Run and Walk, which first took place in 2015.

The event pulled together 699 participants, who donned their best festive outfits to raise money for local charities.

A large crowd gathered on Ashby Bath Grounds on Sunday 7 December ready for the costume ahead of the race.

The four categories for Best Costume were: boys, girls, men, women, family and dogs, with winners each receiving a prize, including a day out to Conkers Discovery Centre, an Ashby BID voucher to spend in a local business, chocolates and a box of dog treats for the four-legged competitors.

The winner of the Best Girls Costume was Ella.

Here are a few of our personal favourite costumes (there were too many incredible costumes to include them all but we included as many as possible).

There were also 28 participants from Odyssey Explorer Unit.

After the costume competition, there was a brief speech by organiser Kevin Sanders of Ashby Rotary Club and Mayor of Ashby Cllr Damilola Ojuri.

This was followed by thanks from Gary on behalf of Wishes4Kids, one of the causes being fundraised for.

Wishes4Kids is a Leicester-based children's charity charity who life limited, terminally ill, have experienced life-changing physical or emotional traumas and have suffered major abuse. So far, they have granted over 8 thousand wishes for children in Leicestershire.

After this, there was a warm up from Fitness Republic, featuring their rabbit mascot.

Congratulations to Ashby Rotary and everyone who look part in this year's Santa Run!
