Three fire crews were called out to a blaze at a house in Donisthorpe last night (Friday).

Fire engines from Ashby, Swadlincote and Burton On Trent were called to the incident at Dawkins Road.

The alarm was raised at 10.15pm when the home owner called to report the fire.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service say the cause is currently under investigation.

A fire service spokesperson said: "On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed the fire in a detached property.

"One main jet, two hose reel jets and four Breathing apparatus wearers fought the fire.

"It then spread to neighbouring property's lean-to building.

"Gas and electricity companies were requested to attend, to isolate utilities."

A crew were today (Saturday) returning to the scene to re-inspect the incident.
