Emergency Services Called To Ashby Tesco Crash After Woman 'Taken Ill At Wheel'

By Graham Hill 18th Dec 2019

Emergency services were called to Tesco Superstore in Ashby on Tuesday evening after a driver fell ill at the wheel of her car and collided with three other vehicles.

The woman driving the car was then taken to hospital following the incident which was attended by police, fire and ambulance.

But there are no reports of anyone else being injured in the incident which happened at around 5.30pm.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "There was a road traffic collision in Resolution Road, Ashby.

"It appears to be the driver of a vehicle who had become unwell at the wheel and then collided with three other vehicles.

"It is unclear whether they were moving vehicles or parked.

"The report does not mention any other person being injured.

"It is presumed the other vehicles were parked.

"The driver was taken to hospital to be checked over. Their vehicle was recovered and we attended the incident until around 8.20.

"That vehicle had been recovered by then."
