Donisthorpe is holding its first ever Open Gardens this Sunday 25th June - and Friends of the ODA (Oakthorpe, Donisthorpe and Acresford) Memorial Gardens will be part of the event.

Organised by members of the community, the trail will take in private gardens as well as the village allotments, St Johns' Church Yard, the Rainbow Benches and the Parish Memorial Gardens.

Gardens will be open to the public from 12pm until 4pm - and visitors are reminded that these are private gardens and community areas and entry is at your own risk.

Friends of the ODA Memorial Gardens are holding a plant sale on site at the Memorial Gardens - Church Street, Donisthorpe DE12 7PX - which members of the group have grown, many of the plants from seed.

They have also received donations from members of the Parish Community and will have an array of flowers, vegetable plants, shrubs and trees along with plant pots and garden accessories on sale.

Vintage tractors have been loaned to the group and will also be on display in the Memorial Gardens from 12 noon.

All donations taken on the day will be in aid of the Friends of the ODA Memorial Gardens project.

A member of Friends said: "A lot of hard work has gone into organising the event and we are so pleased that they have chosen to support our project for the first Open Gardens."

The trail will also include some Potty People for visitors to look out for as they make their way around the village, so keep those eyes peeled.

A map can be found by clicking on the following link HERE or can be collected from the Memorial Gardens and other venues around the trail.
