Ashby Labour Party has announced that Debbie Jackson has been selected as the Ashby candidate for the County Council elections in May.

Mother of four and grandmother, Debbie is an active campaigner for improved public services, particularly for mothers and young children.

She is deeply concerned that these previously difficult to access services have become even more limited during the Covid pandemic.

She will be campaigning to ensure that they are restored and improved going forward.

Debbie said: "It's vital that adequate emotional and physical support services are available for new mums with babies and toddlers and that they know where to go for that help."

Debbie is a teacher, writer and performance poet and recently received her MA in Creative Writing from Derby University as a mature student.

She enjoys running teenage drama groups and is a keen biker.
