Police have confirmed that the death of an 18-year-old man is not being treated as suspicious following the discovery of his body in Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

James Corlett, of Swadlincote in Derbyshire, was reported missing after he failed to return home from a night out in Ashby on Thursday (October 29).

An inquiry was initially opened by Derbyshire Police before responsibility for the case was formally transferred to neighbouring Leicestershire Police on Saturday.

An update provided by the force on Monday said his death was not being treated as suspicious.

A file will be opened with the coroner.

"The death of James is not believed to be suspicious and police will be preparing a file for H.M Coroner. His family are continuing to be supported," police said.
