An Ashby racer is part of the England Deaf Karting Team that are seeking donations to compete in the European Championships in Denmark this September.

Dave Sumner is one of the top eight deaf drivers in the country after competing against hundreds of others for a place in the England team.

Now the England squad aim to go to Denmark to try and upset Germany, who have won the European title for the last six years.

England have not won it since 2018 - but the team need funding.

Dave said: "We'll be racing against eight nation's teams - the European Deaf Karting Championship has been running for 28 years.

"But we need your help to fund us for the event

"We need the race fees, practical training sessions, travel costs and other expenses.

"We're a team with a very low budget, but we win big! However, we desperately need a boost to our very limited budget so we can reach our potential.

"Any donation, however small, is hugely appreciated and will make a difference, supporting practical training sessions, race fees, travel costs, team shirts and kart suits, etc.

"We are the eight top deaf drivers in England, and we've worked so hard to achieve this.

"Our goal is to bring the trophy back to our home, and we can achieve it. We just need a bit more support"

"The England Deaf Karting Team family provides friendship and fun for people who might otherwise feel isolated from sport - and all are welcome at our events."
