Work on the new roundabout and junction on the Ashby by-pass will now start in the Spring.

Taylor Wimpey and Bloor Homes recently secured planning consent to start work on the A511 as part of the early stages of the new development at Money Hill which will consist of 605 new homes.

Work to create a temporary access point will begin on April 10, before advancing onto the junction works by May 16.

While the works are completed, a formal traffic regulation order for temporary closures, a speed limit restriction, parking restrictions and a number of other traffic restrictions will be implemented by Leicestershire County Council Highways on April 9 lasting for approximately 18 months.

The order is being enforced in the interests of public safety to allow the construction and highway works to take place in a safe and controlled way.

Originally, work was to have begun this month - but it will now be slightly later than that.

The roundabout and junction will become the primary access point for Taylor Wimpey and Bloor Homes' Money Hill estate.

The site, which received outline planning consent from North West Leicestershire District Council in November 2017, will also include a 60-unit extra care centre, a new primary and nursery school, community hall and retail spaces, plus green open spaces for the whole community to enjoy.

A reserved matters application has now been submitted to the district council for the proposed development, and is currently undergoing consideration.

Taylor Wimpey and Bloor Homes says they understand these closures and restrictions will be frustrating for the local community, and are working closely with Leicestershire County Council to minimise the impact the work will have on residents.

Chris Leeson, Strategic Project Director for Taylor Wimpey, commented: "We know that works such as this can be an annoyance, but we want to reassure local residents that we'll be working hard to ensure that disruptions are kept to a minimum.

"We'd also like to encourage the community to get in touch with us on 01162 816 400 if they have any issues or concerns."
