Organisers of the Ashby Show have called it off with the event more than three months away.

It is a sign that the Coronavirus Crisis is still likely to be having an effect at the height of the summer.

And the Show, which was to have been held at Cattows Farm in Heather, has now been postponed for this year.

John Shields, Ashby Show Chairman, issued the following statement on Sunday: "It is with great sadness that the Board Members of the Ashby Agricultural Society have taken the difficult decision to cancel Ashby Show on 12th July, due to the on-going situation concerning the Coronavirus.

"The Society would like to thank everyone involved in our wonderful organisation who help make our Show such a fantastic event – visitors, exhibitors, members, sponsors, judges, stewards, contractors and all our amazing volunteers.

"We know you will be as disappointed as we are and we wish you a safe 2020.

"We are now working hard to contact everyone as quickly as possible.

"We thank you for your support and we will now focus on making next year's Ashby Show a celebration to be proud of and welcome you all back on 11th July, 2021."
