Tesco in Ashby has introduced a new way of shopping designed to increase social distancing in the store.
After experiencing panic-buying and overcrowding as the spread of Coronavirus become greater over the past two weeks, Tesco has moved to make shopping at its Resolution Road branch a safer experience.
There is now a one-way system in the store to reduce the risk of the bug spreading between shoppers.
Shoppers queue outside - two metres apart - and are let in one at a time. Once inside, an assistant tells you how the system works. At the Ashby store, the ends of each aisle are taped off and there is a system of arrows directing you towards the checkouts. Shoppers have to follow each other around the store, keeping two metres apart at all times which is marked using tape on the floor. Staff are on hand throughout the store at a safe distance away, to make sure everything runs smoothly. If any shopper misses an item, they have to go back to the start and queue through the store for it again once they have paid for their first lot of shopping.
