Ashby Toolbox say their donation of 12,500 pairs of nitrile gloves & 1,200 surgical masks to local hospitals and GP surgeries is a gesture they hope will make a difference in the fight against Coronavirus.

The Coxon Mews based hardware store made the generous offer to Ashby's Castle Medical Group and Measham Medical Unit among others.

And Tom Colclough, who runs the Ashby store, says he knew how the shop could help provide urgently needed supplies at a time of crisis.

"We mainly just wanted to show that acts of kindness, whether small or large, of monetary value or emotional value, will all make a difference to someone somewhere," Tom told Ashby Nub News.

"We had heard on the news about NHS staff needing more protective equipment and knew we could help with that.

"It's a small gesture in comparison to what they are doing for our community every day, and it's important to make sure they know how much we appreciate them.

"We bought all the gloves and masks from our usual suppliers, but rather than stock them in the shop we delivered them directly to hospitals and GP practices."

Castle Medical Group certainly appreciated the gesture as they posted the following message on their Facebook page.

It read: "A BIG SHOUT OUT to Tom, Tina and Ashton from Ashby Toolbox who have kindly donated 300 surgical masks. Thank you from everyone at Castle Medical Group".
