'Christmas is a time to give, to reflect and to enjoy moments with loved ones.

'Across Leicestershire, we're blessed with thriving communities and it's wonderful to see towns and villages adorned with festive decorations as people come together to celebrate.

'Since May, I've had the privilege of leading Leicestershire County Council and meeting many of our residents, as well as partners in the NHS, police, fire service and beyond—people who make our county such a brilliant place to live.

'Our focus remains clear: delivering value for money and the services that matter most to our 750,000 residents.

'Every day, we work to protect vulnerable children and adults, help people get to school, work and hospital, reduce waste and boost recycling, drive economic growth, and more.

'This year, we've achieved major milestones: submitting a bold proposal for local government reorganisation, advancing innovative flood prevention measures and nearing completion of the largest road scheme ever undertaken in and around Melton. These achievements reflect our shared commitment and determination.

'As we look ahead to 2026, I'm confident we will continue to meet challenges and seize opportunities together. For now, I hope you find time to relax, recharge and enjoy the festive season with those closest to you.
