Children in two classes at Blackfordby St Margaret's CofE Primary School are being urged to self-isolate for 14 days after a pupil tested positive for coronavirus over the weekend.

Staff members who have been in contact with the affected child have also been asked to self-isolate.

The school was closed yesterday (Mon) for a deep clean 'as a precautionary measure' and is due to reopen today.

In a letter to parents of children in classes one and two executive headteacher Susan Savage says: "We have followed the national guidance and have identified that your child has been in close contact with the affected child.

"In line with the national guidance, we recommend that your child now stay at home and self-isolate until 21 September when they can return to school.

"We are asking you to do this to reduce the further spread of COVID-19 to others in the community.

"If your child is well at the end of the 14 days period of self-isolation, then they can return to usual activities.

"Other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the 14 day self-isolation period.

"If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared.

"All other household members who remain well must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days.

"This includes anyone in your 'Support Bubble'."

In a separate letter to all parents, Mrs Savage says staff members who have also been in contact with the affected child have also been asked to self-isolate.

"On the advice of the local health team, the school remains open for the remaining children in other classes from Tuesday, 8 onwards and providing your child remains well they should continue to attend school as normal," she adds.

Our sister site Coalville Nub News has also reported that Castle Rock School has confirmed a member of staff has tested positive for Covid-19.
