MP for North West Leicestershire Amanda Hack has announced that there will be a 20% cut in business rates for eligible pubs, clubs and live music venues from April 2027, describing it as an important step in supporting local hospitality businesses.

Amanda Hack welcomed the Government's announcement, saying: 'Our pubs, clubs and live music venues are at the heart of communities across North West Leicestershire,.

'They create jobs, support our local economy and provide places for people to come together.

'Since being elected, I've been meeting regularly with hospitality businesses across North West Leicestershire to hear first-hand about the challenges they're facing.

'Business rates, rising costs and the pressures on the sector have been recurring themes in those conversations, and I've been feeding those concerns back to Treasury colleagues on a case-by-case basis to ensure local voices are being heard.'

According to Hack, the reduced rates will be fully funded, including through reviewing the reliefs for 'anti-social businesses' like vape shops, that do not make a positive contribution to the local economy.

The government also plans to crack down on businesses that sell through online marketplaces but do not comply with their tax obligations, putting them at an unfair advantage over businesses that follow the rules.
