Budding Bookworms invited by Leicestershire County Council to get involved in Summer Reading Challenge

Leicestershire County Council is once again inviting children to join a reading challenge over the school holidays, encouraging more children between the ages four to twelve to enjoy reading.
The reading challenge, which was created by the Reading Agency, is available for free between 5th July and 6th September in both County Council-run and community-managed libraries across Leicestershire.

The challenge involves reading six of more library books over the summer, collecting rewards as they go. For those taking part, they will also receive free entry into Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and the 1620s House and Gardens at Donington le Heath when attending with a full paying adult.
County Council cabinet member for adults and communities, Councillor Joseph Boam said: "This challenge is a simple, no fuss way to keep children learning, reading, and thinking over the summer, without costing families a penny. It boosts confidence, keeps reading levels up, and encourages imagination.
"And giving free access to two of our brilliant local heritage sites is exactly the kind of added value we should be offering, celebrating our history while making the most of what we already have.
"I'm looking forward to seeing families right across Leicestershire get stuck in."
